FINCHES
When I first saw a Zebra finch, I was captivated by its unique energy. I wanted to experience it more. Since starting to raise finches some six years ago, my fascination with the special quality of these creatures has not abated.

Pippa investigates Dostoevsky
Raising finches is only one of my interests. Presently I am studying for my PhD in Russian literature. This follows naturally out of my biography. I majored in Russian & French in undergraduate school. Then nearly 20 years later I lived in Moscow for four years.
In between Moscow and undergraduate school, I taught and performed a form of dance called eurythmy. In the early 1990s I was invited to come to Moscow to help start an Academy of Eurythmy. That's when I lived there for four years. Upon returning to the States, I was very homesick for Russia and my friends there. Making Russia, that is Russian literature, my profession was a way of staying actively involved in a country I loved and having a gainful means of making a living.
I am also an avid gardener. Outside of my bungalow, I have managed to fill almost every available space with various flowers and herbs. Puttering in my garden is a daily joy. I greet the day each morning with a tour of the garden to see what may have changed. Believe it or not, I notice something new each day.
